WINDOWS VISTA - REVISITED

If I had a nickel for every time someone asked me my opinion of Vista…..You know the rest.  Lets start with my standard answer - “Never buy a new product from Microsoft.  Wait until there is a service pack.”  But answers like that don’t sell product and most people want the latest and greatest.  So, the answer is now - “Buy Vista!  It’s Wonderful!”

Seriously, this is a phenomenal product.  It’s the biggest change for Windows since ’95.  It’s fast, it seems stable (keep reading), and it’s loaded with new cool stuff.  HOWEVER, I do not recommend that anyone install this on a system that is more than a year old.  Let’s just say, it will save you headaches.  Compatibility is always an issue with a new O/S.  Once again, however, I think this is a much more tested and prepared operating system than XP was.  ‘nuf said.

If I had a nickel for every time someone asked me what the differences are between versions of Vista….You know the rest.  Here, in a nutshell, are the basic differences between versions.  There are, technically, 8 versions.  (Really only 4 but there are 32bit and 64bit for each version)

Windows Vista Home Basic – Comparable to Windows XP Home

Windows Vista Home Premium – Comparable to Windows Media Center Edition

Windows Vista Business – Comparable to Windows XP Professional

Windows Vista Ultimate – This is basically the Business version with Media Center included

(This is nutshell descriptions folks.  Don’t email me about what I missed)
