INTEL PRICE DROP / MYDOOM REVISITED

Intel’s scheduled price reduction took effect yesterday.  As usual the only processors that were greatly affected are on the high end.  As a matter of fact, the low end processors actually went up a few dollars.  Also, several processors have been phased out.  Pentium 4 400FSB processors are almost gone.  The 1.8Ghz 512K is the only one still available.  The 533FSB processors are going away slowly.  The biggest change for any one processor was the 3.2Ghz 800FSB.  It dropped $131.00.  The Pentium 4 Extreme processors are now available.  These processors are the same as the Pentium 4 800FSB except they have 2MB of cache instead of 512K.  Currently the price is $993.00 for the 3.2Ghz version.  This price is expected to drop but we don’t know when or how much.  Let’s just say soon and hopefully a lot!

The last newsletter discussing the Mydoom virus caused a lot of feedback.  Let me just clarify a few things.  I am not in support of writing viruses.  I am not a SCO hater.  I am not a Microsoft hater.  My opinions are often expressed in these newsletters.  When I wrote about this topic last week I was just stating either fact or what had already been published by the news media.  Personally, I think that people who write viruses are sick, bored, or too creative.  If they are capable of writing such creative software, they need to find more productive ways to express their creativity.    As far as SCO and Linux are concerned, lets just see how it all washes out.  Interestingly, after I wrote the last newsletter the variant Mydoom.B was reportedly launched to hurt Microsoft.   All I know is that I have spent a great deal of time deleting infected emails and cleaning the virus off of computers.

Last weeks pricelist had several errors in it.  The formulas used to total system prices were ….messed up.  It should all be fixed now.

Over the past few weeks we have been picked clean on several items.  If you experienced any frustrations with out of stock items please be aware that we have restocked on almost everything.
