TIDBITS OF INFORMATION
Every once in a while there just isn’t enough of any one topic to make a decent newsletter. So this will just be a few random tidbits of info for you to ponder.
RAM has been cheaper than dirt lately. DDR2 has been especially inexpensive with DDR about double the price of DDR2. RAM prices have been gradually creeping back up but very low and slow. Buy now for the best pricing. BTW – DDR3 just took a huge price reduction.
Phenom processors have been out for a while now. These are the quad core version of the Athlon64. They are impressive and most of the newer socket AM2 boards will support them. Prices range from $230 to just over $300. That’s quite a bargain when you consider that Intel’s fastest quad core is over $1000!
Microsoft has realeased the Service Pack Candidates for XP and Vista. The reviews are showing that even though XP is still a faster operating system than Vista, the service packs are making XP even faster and Vista even slower. I think we may look back at this period in history the same way we looked at Windows Millennium. Vista will be a Band-aid between XP and what is comes after Vista. (Vista lovers don’t send hate mail. I speak the truth!)
We changed ISP’s again recently due to the slow upload speeds from our server. Some of the larger price list pages should load much faster now.
This time of year is always somewhat slow as we are just coming off if the Chinese New Year. Things usually start to move again after Presidents Day.
Happy Year of the Rat!
