CPU LEAP FROG

The pricing war between Intel and AMD is right on schedule.  Every 6 months Intel reduces prices on CPU’s.  Within a week or two, AMD answers their call by reducing their own prices.  These price drops are always accompanied by an introduction of the next highest speed processor.  In this case Intel is now showing P4 3.4Ghz as their latest screamer.  AMD is hot on their tails with the 3200+.  On the other side of the spectrum, the AMD XP 2000+ is end of life. The Intel 1.8Ghz is still available but I expect everything below 2.4Ghz to disappear soon.

Lately, we have had a lot of discussions around here in regards to computing power.  Moore’s Law states that computers will double in speed and capacity every 18 months.  Everything I read points to this law holding true for a long time.  If you think about this exponential increase, the possibilities of what we are going to achieve is endless.  There are so many things that are going to change very soon and very fast.  It is frightening to think about all the possibilities.  It is so frightening that I will choose to stop here.  Think about it!
