WINDOWS 98: DEAD SOLDIER

Windows 98 has been around long enough!  It was good, but XP is better.  Those of you stuck in the old mode “I’ll wait till they come out with the second release.”  You need to give XP a try.  We have beaten it to death and it is by far the best operating system ever to come out of Microsoft.  Windows XP is technically not a first release.  It is NT version 6.0 with a new name.

Please do not email me your arguments about DOS programs and compatibility issues.  I have had too many of those conversations.  People need to upgrade and it is your job to sell it.  You can’t make money selling inferior and antiquated product.

We will no longer stock Windows 98.  If you really want to sell it, we can order it in generally on an overnight basis.

Windows 2000 Pro is getting difficult to get.  It has been in shortage for several weeks.  We have been able to bring it in, but not in the reasonable time frame we are used to.  Expect W2K Pro to be phased out within a year or so.

By the way, a server version of XP is expected out this summer.

We currently have a Net Integration Mark I Server on display in our showroom.  This has got to be one of the nicest looking machines I have ever seen.  It is simple, self-contained, virtually maintenance free, and believe it or not there is no video hookup.  This thing is so simple you plug it into your network and walk away; a remote PC does the configuration.  Come take a look because this thing is awesome!

 Hope your taxes are finished!
