STAY OF EXECUTION

Microsoft has announced recently that Windows XP will no longer be available from tier 1 manufacturers after July 2008.  However, the OEM channel will still have availability until January 31, 2009.  Recently, Steve Balmer gave an interview where he stated that an extension for the life of XP is not out of the question.  Apparently Microsoft sees Vista is not doing as well as expected.  In my opinion Vista has been given the cold shoulder by most small to medium size businesses..  The most common problem is compatibility with legacy software.  Too many proprietary accounting packages and POS programs will simply not work with Vista.  It is also my opinion that in a few years we will look back on these days the same way we look back on Windows Millenium.  It was a bubble gum and bailing wire approach to a platform change.  Back then we were trying to get Windows 98 and Windows 2000 on the same platform.  WinME  was the crutch needed to reach Windows XP.  The next desktop O/S from Microsoft isn’t due until 2010.  Many people will be holding onto XP until then.

Keep in mind that if you are looking for a laptop with XP, we still sell several from Acer, Sony, and Toshiba.  We can also custom build an MSI laptop with whatever O/S you prefer.  The name brand stuff will disappear soon but we should still be able to do MSI until at least into February next year.

Once again, apologies for the delay in updating the website price list.  We are looking into several different website designs and online stores since most of you don’t like the way the price list looks now.  For the time being we have improved it slightly by only providing relevant information.  In other words, if it’s on the list it will have a price and it is most likely available.  This should make it easier to find what you’re looking for as well as make the list smaller.  We’ll keep you posted
