 RAM PRICES SHOULD RISE

There are many things going on in the RAM market these days that is having a large impact on prices.  I don’t want to go into all the details about what’s going on.  However, in a nutshell, there are lawsuits pending for RAMBUS (that’s old news). It appears that the courts are subpoenaing all the SDRAM manufacturers to question them about anti-trust activity.  All the transitioning for changes from SDRAM to DDR is costly and time consuming.  There is a shortage in the market of  x8 components and the need for 256 Megabit components.  Prices as of today are as follows:

SDRAM DIMM PC-133

  DDR DIMM PC 333

64 MB PC-133 COMPLIANT

 AMD ON THE MOVE AGAIN

My best information about AMD always comes when I have lunch with Mike Morgan.  We talk about wives and motorcycles and then he crams my brain with all the latest info on AMD.  Once again, in a nutshell, Duron will be gone by the end of the year.  We will see the low end XP processors fall into the Duron price range.  We will see XP processors moving all the way to the 3400 model as well.  Wafer size has gone from .16 micron to .13 micron and will soon be moving to .09 micron.  MSI KT3 motherboards are the first to receive the nod from AMD for their Thermal protection.  We should never again see another burned up processor on these boards.  Many more are to come.  We also discussed Clawhammer and Sledgehammer.  If you want more info ask me.

P4 CELERONS NOW AVAILABLE

I told you about the 128K cache P4 several weeks ago.  They are now available and listed on the price list under Celeron processors.  They are currently available in 1.7Ghz and 1.8Ghz.  We have no experience with them so I can’t tell you much more.
