DUAL CORE CPU’S

AMD and Intel have released Dual Core processors for P4, Athlon64 and Opteron.  This technology is interesting to say the least.  You may remember when Hyper-threading technology came out.  Simply put, Hyper-threading “fools” the operating system into thinking there are two processors on the board allowing twice the data to be sent to the processor.  Now dual core processors actually have two complete execution cores.  When you combine this with Intel's Hyper-threading, technically the software is “fooled” into thinking there are 4 processors.  Although AMD does not have Hyper-threading, they are also using this dual core technology to boost performance.  If Dual Core has as much affect on performance as Hyper-threading did, we are in for one hell of ride!

We have yet to experiment with these processors as they are hard to come by and somewhat expensive.  Check the price list.  We have a few listed.

RAM is on the way back up.  It has been creeping North anywhere from .50 to 1.50 per day.  Buy now!  Buy often!  Buy a lot!

NOTE:  Our system prices are all out of whack.  Someone did updates on the spreadsheet without knowing what they were doing and destroyed our formulas.  We should have it fixed in a couple of days.  Heck – we needed to revamp system configurations anyway. :-)
