AMD SURPRISE PRICE DROP
For the last two days of last week we were not able to get any AMD processors. AMD announced a surprise price drop effective today. Prices on all XP processors were reduced about 5%. By the end of the year we will see the low end XP’s drop into the current Duron price range. Durons will be phased out.
Mike Morgan spent the day at S&K last Wednesday. Many of our local customers were able to chat with him and pick his brain. He once again enlightened us with what is coming down the pipe. He left a motherboard for us to test. This is a board with the new NFORCE chipset with Hyper-Transfer technology. We haven’t been as impressed by a motherboard in quite some time. There is virtually no latency in video or network. We played a movie and we were able to skip to any section of the movie instantly. This technology is going to put AMD way ahead of the competition. Combine this with the upcoming 64bit technology and “The sky is the limit” according to Mike.
If you would like posters, pens, stickers, etc from AMD, Mike left a bunch with us. Give us a call or send us a note and we will give this stuff to you. First come first serve.
NET INTEGRATION VISIT A BIG HIT
Thanks to Dan Kempf for coming to Denver for a couple days and visiting with a group of our customers. The reviews on the Net Integration Server just get better by the moment. Victor Salazar of Technical Support Services purchased the Demo unit Dan brought with him. He took it to the US Post Office and they beat it up severely. They stated that it is the only server they have seen that will block all 64000 ports. Hacker proof? It appears to be. They wouldn’t let Victor take the machine back! We can’t keep these things on the shelf. If you want all the info, please contact me directly scott@skwholesale.com
